Aqualife is positioned at the forefront of this exciting industry with companies in the UK, Norway and Portugal and is developing innovative solutions to help keep farmed fish stocks healthy around the World.

Disease costs the industry upwards of £6 billion per annum and encourages the use of antibiotics. Our innovative solutions help keep disease outbreaks under control and reduces the use of antibiotics.


We have just completed a financing round and are now looking to employ a Head of Finance to help us develop our company to the next stage.


  • Job Purpose

Reporting directly to the CEO and Board of Directors, this individual will manage our finance function and play a pivotal role within the organisation.

They will actively contribute towards key senior business decisions, ensure complete financial compliance and control, funding streams and investment strategy, and help drive the business forward.


  • Main Responsibilities
  • Management of finance team to ensure that all reporting and financial processing are produced to deadline dates.
  • Develop Company KPI's to ensure Companies commercial targets align with financial forecasts.
  • Ensure timely production of monthly KPI's.
  • Manage business cashflow ensuring long term cashflow forecast can support the business in its longterm strategy and Management.
  • Management of key cost areas (purchasing, labour, overheads)
  • Ensure the accurate, timely preparation and submission of monthly and year end financial and monthly management accounts
  • Developing and maintaining accounting policies & procedures and Internal controls
  • Overseeing tax compliance and relevant tax filings
  • Communicate with key external stakeholders to support the business (Factoring company, Bank, HMRC, Finance house etc)
  • Conduct Profit and Loss Analysis and understand departments performance and communicate to SMT
  • Prepare and control the annual budgeting and forecasting process across the business with the commercial leads and CEO.
  • Prepare timetable templates, guidelines for the annual budgeting process and lead the quarterly forecast process.
  • Create and develop training manual to support new procedures/system and train staff to ensure smooth hand over.
  • Recommend costreduction solutions and review product costing.
  • Review commercial agreements with existing/new customer/suppliers and finance houses.
  • Continually seek to enhance and improve financial systems and processes.
Support operational/commercial team with financial/non-financial information


5. Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with a minimum of 5 years PQE
  • Financial Reporting to senior Management and Board of Directors
  • Previous experience working at a senior management level.
  • Experience of managing a small team
  • Commercially focused, with an ability to take ownership of tasks/projects
  • Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to manage several priorities at once
  • Experience with MRP Systems and Process flows
  • Experience of working with a manufacturing/Engineering business
  • Experience of growing an SME
  • Excellent Excel modelling skills
  • Good communicator of financial information to colleagues
  • Comfortable working with and communicating to operational managers

6. Additional skills but not essential

  • Small business/startup experience
  • Experience of international accountancy

£50,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
