In your role as a teaching assistant, you will receive online training before you start, as well as benefiting from on-the-job support to ensure you are confident and comfortable with your role.

You will be supporting children ages 5-11, and will be key in providing educational guidance, as well as encouraging their social, emotional and physical development alongside the class teacher.

Becoming a teaching assistant will allow you to motivate, inspire and encourage young learners as they flourish in their primary education

Your Teaching Assistant responsibilities:

  • Bring your best self to work everyday
  • Work with children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to support their learning
  • Be a positive role model for students and staff
  • Create and maintain positive relationships with children and their families
  • Work together with other members of staff, including specialists
  • Support the class teacher with preparing resources and setting up activities

Requirements of your Teaching Assistant role:

  • A genuine passion for working with children
  • Experience working in a childcare setting or with children
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or a willingness to obtain one)
  • Grade C or above (or equivalent) in GCSE Maths and English
  • Ability to build relationships with staff, pupils and their families
  • Confidence to direct individuals or small groups
  • A positive attitude and strong communication skills
