Purpose of the Role Has the last few years given you a passion and enthusiasm to learn more about infection prevention & control (IP&C) and educate staff around the importance of embedding IP&C standards.

If this is you, then an exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join our Infection Prevention and Control Service Team.

The IP&C team is enthusiastic about getting it right for our patients.

To achieve this, we are looking for a self-motivated, experienced, and caring care support worker who is passionate about IP&C with proven experience in providing care.


Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability To undertake regular Infection Prevention & Control audits in line with DHU Health Care CIC policy.

To report any failures in cleanliness standards after audit has been completed immediately to the person in charge/responsible for the site.

To audit adherence to all aspects of Infection control in all areas of DHU Health Care CIC, including the use of colour coded equipment to ensure there is no spread of infection.

Reporting maintenance faults and building fabric issues to the DHU Estates and Facilities team, in accordance with local procedure.


Report all sightings of pests to the Sites & Services Manager and DHU Estates and Facilities team in line with the local procedure.

To ensure the correct use of chemicals for the type of surface and finish required, making certain the handling and usage of such are in line with the COSHH regulations, risk assessments, safe systems of work and training given.

To work as an integral part of the nursing and quality multi-disciplinary team, in partnership with managers and staff to embed safe IPC practices into the environment.

General duties To comply with all DHU Healthcares policies, procedures, and practices and to be responsible for keeping up to date with any changes to these.


Working within the multi-disciplinary team to deliver care, maintain and enhance the service to patients and satisfaction of service users under the supervision of a Registered Practitioner.

Deliver a high standard of care in accordance with DHUs policies and procedures.

Conduct yourself professionally within the HCA standard framework, understanding the standards in accordance with the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) Codes of professional Conduct and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Demonstrate competence in the role of Healthcare Assistant within the scope of your working areas.

Provide support to new members of staff to ensure the maintenance of a high-quality service. Attend training and meetings as and when required to do so by management.

Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to all issues concerned within the service and adhere to the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1984 Adhere to the Health and Safety Policy Communicate outstanding issues to the IPC practitioner/manager before going off duty.

Notify Line Manager/s or Out of Hours Co-ordinator of any circumstances which may affect the provision of a high-quality service.

It is expected that this position will cover out of hours with some in
- hours working.
