As a senior member of the Multi-Disciplinary CAMHS Team, the postholder will support the CAMHS Service in order to provide a high quality assessment of the mental health needs of children and young people.


  • To oversee and develop Bury CAMHS duty offer
  • To support and manage members of staff working within the current duty team.
  • To arrange and develop the Thrive Model CAMHS service for this age
  • To manage and develop the stepped care CAMHS service for this age
  • To manage CAMHS clinicians and provide supervision for team members undertaking assessment and a range of interventions / managing
  • To develop and implement therapeutic plans of care for children and young people with mental health
  • Supporting the service to deliver training and consultation to other children's agencies.
  • To liaise with other agencies regarding the implementation of care plans and the management of risk for children and young
  • To promote and support mental health awareness in agencies supporting children and young


This post is an exciting opportunity for an experienced CAMHS Practitioner to join Bury CAMHS and support the development of the CYPMH offer into our local communities.

You will work in partnership with early help services and our local multi-agency safeguarding hubs to ensure that our referral pathways are accessible, delivered in true partnership and ensure children ,young people and families that need mental health advice and support can get what they need quickly and easily.

You will help ensure that CAMHS Getting More Help and Getting Risk support offers are developed and that those CYP that need help and treatment from CAMHS access it smoothly and at the earliest opportunity


Your days will be varied and your work will be completed largely within our core CYPMH service with focus on developing our duty offer and supporting those working within our current duty team.

This role will have high impact locally and in order to be successful you will need:


  • Strong CYP mental health knowledge and experience.
  • Experience of using training, supervision and consultation as a means of helping other professionals to support the mental health of CYP.
  • Good understanding and commitment to the CAMHS transformation agenda

You will be a key member of the Bury CAMHS management team, receive excellent supervisory support both through clinical and managerial and we will work with you to support your development.

Clinical

  • To ensure high quality CAMHS clinical assessment of young people and their families referred to the Single Point of Entry
  • To manage and clinically supervise CAMHS practitioners in managing their own caseloads
  • To be responsible for and manage a (reduced) defined caseload (as agreed with Operational Manager) and undertake keyworker responsibilities within the caseload, making autonomous decisions concerning service delivery, risk management, referrals to other agencies and
  • To make independent clinical decisions about the appropriate therapeutic interventions for each young person, in accordance with individual assessed need, and to provide or provide access to this intervention, including those young people with learning
  • To work with families/carers of young people experiencing mental health problems
  • To identify and develop strategies to manage risk to the young person and others in line with Pennine Care procedures and
  • To liaise closely with a wide range of agencies regarding individual care packages.
  • To advise on risk management and to promote awareness of Child and Adolescent Mental Health issues within these
  • To provide / delegate professional, managerial and clinical supervision to workers within the stepped care CAMHS service
  • To contribute to peer supervision and peer review of cases and in conjunction with the CAMHS Operational Coordinator to ensure that own supervision needs are met.
  • To support other agencies working with young people, i.e. MASS, to facilitate their ability to support presenting mental health needs in children and young people.
  • To provide interventions in a range of CAMHS care pathways
  • To provide consultation and training on a wide range of children's emotional health and wellbeing issues to professionals from a range of services including GP's, Early Help and Primary Care Services, Adult Mental Health Services, Youth Offending Services and Education
  • To engage in / deliver managerial and clinical supervision, including with appropriate consent, recording and reviewing of live
