Description

The post holder will work as a skilled, autonomous practitioner as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality care to patients.

Advanced Practice is delivered by experienced, registered healthcare professionals.

This is underpinned by learning at a masters level or equivalent award that encompasses the four pillars of clinical practice, leadership and management, education and research, with demonstration of core capabilities and area specific clinical competence.

The post holder will be accountable for their own practice including clinical assessment, history taking, determining a differential diagnosis, using appropriate diagnostics, and starting treatment and/or referring to another speciality or discharging of patients.

They will provide a highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience. They will act as a professional role model for their speciality and the advancement of clinical practice. They will work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and sustain a clinically excellent service. Audit, evaluate and implement best practice.

The post holder will be an independent non
- medical prescriber, offering advice and expertise within their clinical setting. They will monitor and promote excellence in clinical practice and care through use of evidence, supervision, teaching and collegial support. Degree or diploma in Nursing or Allied Health Profession Registered with professional body (NMC / HCPC) 3 years post registration experience within an acute clinical environment Experience of delivering presentations / teaching Evidence of recent continued practice development (academic) Successful completion of PACR, PADRAP and Non-Medical Prescribing modules Expected to undergo in house Consultant Neurosurgeon led training/education Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team Able to demonstrate specialist knowledge in relation to the CSF pathway, treatments and surgical procedures, or willingness to learn Advanced generalist and specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and experience of the care and management of patients, including history taking, differentiating diagnoses, implementing diagnostic reasoning, using referral pathways, prescribing medication, implementing treatment plans, including when not to treat. Understanding of scope of practice and works within professional boundaries.

Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of national and local policy, guidelines and current developments in relation to clinical practice. Experience of research and undertaking audit and evaluation Leadership experience and involvement in change and development within a multidisciplinary team context Assertive, proactive and able to use own initiative Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with patients, relatives and colleagues Emotional resilience with the ability to support and acknowledge others Computer literate, able to use databases and other relevant programmes Excellent organisational and time management skills Flexibility, adaptability to meet needs of a changing service Professional supervision and coaching skills
