This is an exciting opportunity for a clinically qualified individual to join the growing and dynamic neurology department at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This post is a locum post in Movement Disorders and General Neurology (5 NHSPA).


St George's has a dedicated Movement Disorders Service managing secondary and tertiary care Movement Disorders referrals from South-West London and Surrey.

The Movement Disorders group includes dedicated clinics for the assessment and treatment of complex movement disorders including Parkinson's disease, tremor and dystonia and incorporates the fastest growing functional neurosurgery service in the UK.


We have a large population of patients treated with device assisted therapy (Apomorphine and Duodopa) as well as a dedicated Tic and Tourette's clinic and an ataxia clinic.

We have an extensive botulinum toxin injection service for dystonia and tremor, including working closely with ENT and performing procedures with EMG and USS guidance.


The Movement Disorders group includes provision of in-reach support to ward-based patients on the Clinical Neurosciences wards as well as in-patients in the wider Hospital.


The Movement Disorders service at St George's is a predominantly outpatient based regional service that provides assessment, investigations, advice and treatment to patients with all forms of Movement Disorders.

The service acts as a secondary care service for South West London and a specialist tertiary referral service (including advanced PD therapies) for Southwest London, Surrey and beyond, working collaboratively with Consultants at the DGHs.


The team provide an in-patient liaison service for patients admitted with Movement Disorders to St George's, principally via the PD CNS's within the team.


The team runs regular outpatient clinics including sub-specialist movement disorders with expertise in dystonia, ataxia, tics and complex Parkinson's disease, requiring advanced therapies.

We have the fastest expanding Movement Disorders Surgery service in the UK (Mr Erlick Pereira, Consultant Neurosurgeon) and the postholder will be expected to support that clinical and academic service.
