Local Government Scale 6 or 7 (Dependent on experience)


Actual Salary from:
£18,786 - £20,215 (Scale 6, Point or £20,973 - £23,523 (Scale 7, Point 19-24)

The Role


We are seeking an outstanding Careers Advisor to provide impartial information, advice and guidance to help people make realistic choices about education, training and work.


  • This post is 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time, plus nonpupil days).
  • The working hours are 8.15am3.15pm, Monday to Friday, however we are willing to consider alternative start/finish times.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the provision of careers and labour market information.
  • Managing the careers section of the school's website.
  • Liaising with tutorial managers, mentors and SENCO to identify students needing guidance.
  • Planning a systematic and structured careers offer to ensure that no child is left behind.
  • Providing impartial information, advice and guidance to individuals and to groups of students in relation to all aspects of their progression planning.
  • Establishing and developing links with FE colleges, apprenticeship providers and universities and employers.
  • Developing and promoting FE links across the curriculum and assisting in the development of FE partnerships.
  • Organising university and college visits.

We're looking for you if you have:

  • An understanding of, and support for, the ethos of the school.
  • Level 6 Qualification in CEIAG, registered with CDI.
  • A knowledgeable and sound understanding of Further Education systems and careers education and guidance practices.
  • A keen interest in the concerns of students and an understanding of the factors that impact on young people and their decisionmaking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to engage students, staff and parents.
  • Flexibility, reliability and a high level of organisational skills.
