SARs/Complaints Administrative Officer

Contract Type:
Temporary - 3 Months

You will be involved in supporting the Children's Services Department's Subject Access Requests (SARs) Team through the provision of administrative support around the SAR process.

This will involve working with members of the public and organisations to facilitatethe retrieval and disclosure of Children's Services records.

You will also play a key role in the co-ordination and delivery of Police requests for Children's Services information.

You will also work with the Children's Services Complaints team by providing administrative support to this service. This will include logging requests on a database and communicating with members of the public about their complaint.

You will work withina busy but supportive team and provide support to the Complaints and Customer Service Manager and Complaints Officers where necessary.

We are looking for an individual with previous experience of delivering a wider range of administrative functions. You will be educated to beyond GCSE. You will also be a good communicator with excellent ICT skills. You will be required to work closely withcolleagues and partners in a political environment.


Job Purpose:


  • To provide support in clearing outstanding administration tasks within the SAR team, to help deliver an efficient service in support of business requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

2) Provide administrative support to CSD SARs Team by logging requests on the SAR database and adding records to SharePoint.

3) Receiving and scanning items of post received by the team.
4) Liaising with the police to provide access to key documents to assist their investigations.

5) Collating and combining documents from SharePoint into a format that can be redacted.

6) Working with the Children's Services complaints team and the wider directorate to respond to complaints submitted by members of the public about complaints.

This will include working in a shared inbox, logging requests on a database and updating thisdatabase and communicating with members of the public about their complaint.


Essential Qualifications:


  • Formal qualification (beyond GCSE) and competence in specialist functions as appropriate.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:


  • Previous experience delivering a wide range of administrative functions.
  • Computer literacy with experience of using a variety of software for information management, including SharePoint. In addition to have used key Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook and Excel.
