Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship

Ready to future-proof your skills? The Higher Apprenticeship combines real projects and on-the-job training while you work towards formal qualifications at your training provider.

You'll work within our engineering teams who are responsible for reimagining the cars of tomorrow, focusing on our future of sustainability-rich modern luxury achieved through curiosity, creativity and precision engineering.

Joining our engineering teams, you'll learn and develop in one of the industry's most dynamic environments, finding the balance between performance, sustainability and refinement, and helping us to respond to the environmental issues that are shaping automotive innovation.

You could find yourself working within our Engineering Operations or Engineering Vehicle teams.

Engineering Operations (EO) - Whitley, Gaydon, Lyons Park, Ansty Park
Engineering Operations (EO) are at the heart of JLR Engineering.

Involved at every stage of the engineering process, they underpin technical innovation and product delivery with programme management, tools and processes and specialist technical services to deliver our world class products.

A diverse team, EO harness a variety of skill sets, from project management, information management and data analytics, to building and testing prototypes.

As an apprentice you could find yourself working across a number of teams such as our battery testing or climactic testing, test bed or lab testing team or the calibration team.

Apprentices will undertake a variety of activities dependant on their role.

Activities may develop skills such as fabrication, testing, electro-mechanical calibration techniques, vehicle installation into our test chambers and pre-test checks and the use of automated test equipment.

Alongside this, you will develop your ability to turn theoretical knowledge into practical ability and develop your communication and problem-solving skills.

Engineering Vehicle (EV) - Gaydon, Coventry

EV is the key technical department for the product creation process - leading the engineering from concept to customer, managing the technical content of programmes and balancing customer attributes and commodities to deliver and launch our world class products.

You will gain valuable knowledge and experience as you work with various teams.

This may include working with Technical Specialists to understand requirements, or with the Concepts Team to get a grasp of the early up-front work, work on the build of the models and supporting design reviews and customer clinics.
