Charity People is working in partnership with the University of Oxford's world-leading Mathematical Physical and Life Sciences Development team to find a talented Development Executive to help secure philanthropic support.

  • 12month contract, with internal opportunities providing significant potential for extension _
  • Grade 7: £34,308 £42,155 per annum with possible extension to £46,047 _

About the role:


You'll join the country's most successful higher education Development team, working in a stimulating environment with an international reputation for excellence.

From climate science and robotics, to drug discovery and surveying and conserving tropicalrainforests, Oxford scientists are at the forefront of international research and their work has global impact.


Your fundraising landscape will be vast and varied, with scope to work across a range of income streams and manage your own portfolio.

Priorities for fundraising include securing support for graduate scholarships, key academic posts, research programmes,and infrastructure.


Your goal will be to develop and implement plans to maximise philanthropic gifts up to £500,000 from individuals, corporates partners and trusts and foundations.

You'll work with donors and academics at the highest level, part of an energising communityof education and research.


About you:


You already have fundraising or transferable income generation experience, closing negotiations of at least five figures in a relevant relationship or customer-focused role.

You have a passion for science and technology, although that could be curiosityand interest, rather than any specific working experience.

We'd love to see you showcase these skills and experience in your expression of interest:

  • Nuanced understanding of the donor or customer journey from solicitation, engagement and stewardship to making the 'ask'
  • Sensitivity and emotional intelligence when working with key stakeholders
  • Excellent personal presentation and communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to act without supervision and decisively when the situation demands
