Tower Hamlets Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service is looking for a cultural advocate from the Bangladeshi community to contribute to its ongoing development as a culturally sensitive service by making use of the cultural advocacy position and proposing creative changes to working practices and procedures for this area of work.


  • Assisting the multidisciplinary team to meet the psychological, physical and social needs of the Bangladeshi service users, joining with other staff in undertaking assessments and offering treatment.
  • Supporting jointly with colleagues the development of link working relationships with partnership agencies.
  • Facilitating communication with service users in their preferred language (Bengali/Sylheti) supporting service users and professionals at the different stages of the therapeutic journey.
  • Promoting further awareness and understanding in the service of cultural and language issues related to Bangladeshi service users and in the Bangladeshi community of CAMHS. This may involve outreach to community groups to promote an awareness and understanding of the services available and needs of the community.


As a member of the CAMHS Multi-disciplinary Team, working across teams/pathways, the CAMHS Cultural Advocate will work collaboratively with other team members in the provision of clinical treatment; attendance to regular CAMHS team meetings is expected.


The Cultural Advocate will be based across two sites at Greatorex Street and the Emanuel Miller Centre as well as working remotely.
