Job Title: Laboratory Shift Supervisor

Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Shift Work 4 days on 6 days off 2 day shifts (07:00am 19:00am), 2 night shifts (19:00pm 07:00am), followed by 6 days off.

Salary: The salary will be between £24,000 - £26,000-
PLUS £6k shift allowance

As a Laboratory Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the operating activities of the laboratory and prioritising workload to ensure customer service levels are met.

You will also be responsible for out of hours site management and line management of shift team.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure Shift Handover is performed at start and end of every shift, with key issues clearly identified and prioritised to previous/next Shift Supervisor and recorded in Shift Log.
  • Review outstanding work with respect to customer deadlines and prioritise activities of Shift team.
  • Ensure all samples are processed for analysis and reports of analysis are issued within turnaround times agreed with both our internal and external Customers.
  • Over period of Shift, regularly review workload with respect to analytical test deadlines and use this information to priorities activities of Shift team.
  • Regularly liaise with relevant Clients to ensure customer workload priority is understood.
  • Regularly liaise with customers to keep them informed of analytical test issues such as delays, etc.
  • Appraise, coach, counsel and develop direct reports, ensuring each individual has a set of objectives and is given an annual performance appraisal to ensure effective communication of individual, team & business goals and address any areas for improvement.

Qualifications:


To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Previous experience of working in a laboratory environment.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Able to adopt a flexible approach to work and react effectively to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Working knowledge of effective people management techniques.
  • Full UK driving license
Desirable

  • Knowledge of analytical testing activities within the Petro-Chemical industry.
