Description
We are currently recruiting for a confident research assistant to join our progressive and vibrant R&D team.

The post holder will be the lead researcher on a 30 month, NIHR funded study entitled 'Being kind to ourselves:
A feasibility randomised controlled trial of Compassion Focused therapy (CFT) to improve depression and anxiety in Dementia'.

The post holder will be involved in managing the trial, recruiting participants from existing clinical services and establishing relationships with new services/specialities as required.

The role is both staff and patient/client facing and requires an aptitude for working with a range of people from different cultures, ages, and environments.

We are also looking for someone with strong writing skills.

The post holder will provide oversight and management of the research activities in the CFT for dementia project.

They will underpin the day to day operations of the research and contribute to the administrative aspects of the research governance processes.

They will work closely with the Chief Investigator, Principle Investigators and Sponsor (NELFT) to ensure cohesive and efficient research processes.

The post holder will support all stages of the trial set up including refinement of the CFT intervention, NHS ethical approvals, database and case report form development and site approval processes.

They will be responsible for maintenance of the site file and key databases and files, data cleaning, entry and analysis.

They will lead recruitment both at NELFT and other sites, liaise with clinical teams and research participants, and set up and conduct assessments with people with dementia and their families.

There may be the opportunity to have UCL students supporting the study for whom the post holder can jointly supervise.

Travel to other research sites may be involved. They will organise management group meetings, meetings with researchers from the different sites, PPI and Trial Steering Committee meetings.

They will play a key role in the write up and dissemination of findings, and have opportunities to contribute to high-profile academic publications and conferences.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.

All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.

As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.

The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,108 and a maximum payment of £5,177 per annum pro rata).
