Are you an experienced Buildings and Maintenance Handyperson?

Our Bolton Bakery is currently looking to appointment an experienced Handyperson to ensure internal and external building maintenance is completed to the relevant standards required by a food manufacturing premises.

The work will be varied including anything from plumbing to minor electrical work and general maintenance and repairs of site amenities.

The Recipe

Working as part of our busy engineering team you will work closely with our Engineering Planner to ensure all necessary maintenance is carried out in a safe and timely manner and to the required standards.

Duties may include:
Plumbing and pipework maintenance,
Painting and decorating,
Basic building and joinery repairs,
Basic electrical work, for example, general lighting repairs,
Liaising with external contractors and ensuring work is completed to the required standard

Key Accountabilities and Measures

Conform to health and safety policies and standards so that all work is undertaken to internal and legislative standards.
Regular inspections in place which identify and risk to internal and external standards.
Accountable for ensuring all building standards meet internal and external compliance levels.
Conform to food safety and quality management system standards so that the site produces products which are safe and do not put consumers at risk.

Essential Ingredients

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week
Plumbing & pipe fitting skills completing work to an acceptable standard. Able to identify, specify and order spares as required.
Electrical work skilled and competent to conduct work such as changing lamps and tubes, and minor electrical works such as changing light fittings in a safe manner, replacing socket and switch fronts in a safe manner.
General maintenance and repairs of site amenities.
Essential time management and ability to prioritise own workload
Decision making skills uses judgement to refer decisions to a higher authority where appropriate.
