Primary Mental Health High Intensity Therapist - Cardiff, United Kingdom - Cardiff and Vale University Health Board
Description
HMP Cardiff is a category B local remand prison holding male adult prisoners mainly drawn from the South East Wales region.
Given the current pressures and shortages of prison spaces we are having increasingly more out of area men residing with us which creates added complexities when trying to confirm past care and treatment and make appropriate release plans.
The turn over of the population is quick therefore creating a challenge for our services to act in a timely way.
The primary mental health team here operates a seven day service, all new receptions into custody are triaged to see if they require mental health support during their stay and those with mild to moderate mental health needs are offered further assessment and intervention.
This opportunity will provide;
- Experience of working in a fast paced and challenging environment
- Development of skills working with a diverse population with complex needs and risks
- Opportunity to work with partner agencies such as prison staff, probation and physical health
- A wide scope of practice opportunities; liaison, assessment, group work, referring on.
- Team working, joining an established team of experienced practitioners and being part of the wider service including secondary care
- A practitioner with post qualification experience in a range of settings
- A drive to work alongside the team to improve the service we deliver
- An understanding of the needs of our population.
Please note that as this is a seven-day service each practitioner in the team is needed to cover one weekend out of four.
We welcome interest from those that would like a part time opportunity though this is a full time post that we are looking to cover.
