WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Business area introduction
The Rates Trading Desk is a unit of Santander Corporate and Investment Banking (SCIB).
It provides prices to our Global client base in GBP, USD, XCCY interest rate and UK inflation derivatives as well as UK Government bonds.
This will involve detailed understanding of pricing engines, electronic quoting workflow, risk management of derivative products, regulatory requirements in this area etc.
It will be necessary to work to a high level of performance to help the team meet its goals.Key activities
The purpose of the role is to market make GBP flow products which include vanilla Swaps, UK government bonds and packages of trades (i.e. asset swaps, spreads, flies, etc). The trade will provide two-way prices to Santander group clients, including institutional clients, corporates and internal clients (i.e. Entities part of Grupo Santander). The trader will work closely with other members of the team.
What we're looking for
- The role holder will have experience trading GBP swaps and bonds, managing a market making book, owning a personal budget and contributing to the overall team budget
- Sufficient experience to safely and adequately manage risk. He/she will be required to provide 2 way prices to Santander's client base and manage market risk in a responsible and effective manner, while achieving all agreed goals.
- Professional qualifications and/or advanced degree
- Regulatory Approved Person

This role is based in our Triton Square office in London, conveniently located within walking distance from Euston Station and Warren Street Station.
Given the recent impact of the Coronavirus outbreak we will be conducting all interviews via telephone or video-conference where possible.
