Bolton Brothers Ltd is a familed owned Recycling Company based in Gt Blakenham approximately 5 miles from the centre of Ipswich. We are looking for a Team Leader to join our growing Forklift Team.


Forklift Team Leader

Overview


The role of the Lead FLT driver is to coordinate, organise and efficiently support a small team of FLT drivers and efficiently oversee the process of bulk paper and plastic material delivered into and out of the onsite MRF (Materials Recycling Facility) in a safe and efficient manner.


This will include all the administration in respect of operational activity and day to day management of the team as well as hands-on forklift duties in the event of reduced staffing levels due to absence, holiday or unexpected additional workload.


Responsibilities

  • Unloading of inbound paper and plastic material in baled, palletised and loose form in various types of storage units including metal & plastic stillages & tipping skips.
  • Stacking bales using clamps onto graded bale stacks in safe and efficient manner
  • Daily consultation and review of goods in/out report to monitor and manage stock levels to ensure orders are fulfilled and tonnage out is maximised
  • Carry out regular and accurate stock checks of all baled material in preparation for monthly stock take with the Finance Director & Finance Manager
  • Monitor and manage all storage areas and ensure safe capacity levels
  • Ensure all stock areas are maintained to the correct safety standards and safety for yourself and your team members is maximised
  • Communicate efficiently and regularly with your team members and act as Direct contact for absence report

  • Support transport/weighbridge departments by ensuring all your team members are loading/unloading both inhours and thirdparty trucks in satisfactory timeframe to minimise unnecessary downtime.
- working closely with other MRF Team leaders to assist and support smooth running of MRF operation

  • Monitor team training program and requirements and organise refresher training on all manual handling equipment as required and document on Company training matrix accordingly.
  • Implement training programme for all new recruits and ensure all members of the Forklift Team are trained for the jobs they perform and are multiskilled to perform all tasks.
  • Monitor attendance and organise cover during holiday and absence as necessary.
  • Supervise daily, weekly and monthly defect checks to ensure that all items of equipment are fit for purpose and all defect maintenance has been carried out
  • Attend Daily Review Meetings with other TLs and Operations Manager and report any stock or operational is
- sues.

  • Identify any areas for improvement in efficiency, Health and Safety or other areas, and escalate to Operations Manager as necessary
  • Ensure all Forklift Team members follow the relevant company policies, procedures and practices as defined by management and follow disciplinary process as required in the event of an alleged breach
  • Carry out weekly bale stack inspections, report any damage or hazards to the Operations Manager and Health and Safety Manager and arrange for immediate rectification.
  • Carry out all reasonable tasks assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • Adhere to all company Health and Safety policies ensuring that safe working practices are carried out at all times.

Skills Required:


  • Be actively willing to help others and adhere to all Company health and safety processes and procedures.
  • Able to assist and support both your team and the Company during periods of positive commercial change
  • Must be driven, proactive, adaptable and flexible and have a "can do attitude".
  • Strong team and leadership ethic and comfortable with making difficult decisions to benefit the department as a whole.
  • Supervisor or team leading experience essential as people management is a large part of this role and robust and difficult conversations with team members may be required in the event of poor team performance.
  • Ability to delegate jobs as well as be handson and efficiently organise workload of team members to maximise efficiency of the department as well as team job satisfaction and morale.


Salary quoted is based on 47.5 hour week Monday to Friday however
all applicants will be required to opt into a 3-shift rotation arrangement which includes 0600 starts, 1800 finishes and Saturday morning working, all at a time-and-a-half rate of pay.
