We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the optical wireless communications research group in central Oxford. The post is funded by EPSRC and is fixed-term for up to 30 months, available immediately. The position is part of the recently funded EPSRC Federated Communications Hub in All-Spectrum connectivity.

The consortium consists of the University of Oxford (lead partner), Queens University Belfast, the University of Bristol, the University of Cambridge, University College London, Imperial College London, the University of Southampton and the University of Strathclyde.

This is a great opportunity to work across a consortium of partners, with close links to industry.


The successful applicant will be responsible for developing a system model that allows the optimum use of the fibre and wireless spectrum to meet future connectivity demands.

The project will involve both individual and collaborative work across our partners.

You should possess a DPhil in a relevant area, with skills in the modelling of telecommunications or similar systems, and the ability to deliver complex software that is usable by others.

You will also have the drive and enthusiasm to initiate and develop the collaborations required to deliver this work.


There is a possibility to appoint at Grade 6 (£28,098 - £33,518 p.a.) if you hold a relevant degree/Masters and are working on a PhD/DPhil, and have relevant experience.
