Mechanical Maintenance Fitter

REPORTING TO:

PURPOSE OF JOB:
To maintain, by servicing and repair, all plant and machinery in order to maintain production and

meet all health and safety requirements. Also, where applicable, to install new plant & machinery.

MAJOR DUTIES
Mechanical Maintenance Fitter is responsible for the following duties, systems and procedures:2.1.

Attend breakdowns as requested, assess cause, strip down and determine best method of repair:
2.2. Install replacement components or carry out repairs using lathes, cutting/grinding machinery, welding equipment etc;
2.3. Check tolerances/clearances during re-assembly and test all equipment for effective and safe operation following repair;
2.4. Conduct planned preventative maintenance checks to a pre-determined schedule. Assess requirements for repair/replacement and, in conjunction with management, determine the best time for repairs to be carried out. Carry out repairs (as in 2.2 & 2.3)

2.5. Attend to equipment faults in response to requests from management as a result of machinery malfunctioning (e.g. not producing to dimensions) and carry out adjustments or repairs as necessary.

2.6. Utilise hydraulic & pneumatic drawings for fault finding purposes.

2.7. Where necessary, identify appropriate replacement part using manufacturer's specifications, catalogues etc, and order from maintenance office.

2.8. Ensure all equipment conforms to relevant health and safety legislation after repair. Strictly adhere to safe working practices when repairing machinery, entering confined spaces, etc. Ensure appropriate isolation and key exchange procedures are carriedout.

2.9. Complete job ticket descriptions and report as required; Any duties within capability as required by management.
