    About the role:

We're looking for a Training and Capability Co-ordinator to join our Customer Connections Team working on a hybrid basis from our office in Warwick. This is a 12 month fixed-term-contract position.
Here at National Grid, we own the electricity transmission network in Wales and England.

As we transition to greener, cleaner energy, our Customer Connections department has a critical part to play in the journey to Net Zero.

It is here that we connect the energy generated by renewable sources such as wind and solar, to the main electricity network.

It will be your job to co-ordinate the training of between three to four hundred people.

You're going to be helping these people be the best they possibly can be, ensuring the right people, at the right time, have the skills to successfully deliver Net Zero.

It is a hugely varied role, where you will proactively assist on a range of capability and training activities.

For example, it will be up to you to co-ordinate the capabilities and legislative training requirements that allow your colleagues to safely and successfully undertake their roles, all the way through from basic safety and technical perspectives, to business and leadership requirements.


About you:


You will have the ability to learn on-the-job and quickly pick up a working knowledge of Customer Connections and its activities, processes and business issues.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office systems, your Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills are excellent.

You also know how to use SharePoint, have basic management reporting and presentation skills, and knowledge of performance excellence tools and methodologies.

Your organisational and administrative skills are strong, as is your attention to detail.

You can manage data, work under pressure and to tight deadlines, and use your own initiative to identify issues and possible solutions.

You can manage stakeholders at all levels of the business and engage well with customers.


What you'll do:


  • Acting as a central interface for each business area, employee, trainee and agency resource within Customer Connections. Ensuring all training requirements are managed, scheduled and planned in accordance with delivery plans and legislative requirements.
  • Assisting with the gathering and validation of base data against each job role for business, technical, safety, leadership and specialist skills.
  • Supporting the ongoing planning, organising, coordinating and scheduling of all trainees.
  • Supporting all technical, safety, business, programme and leadership training requirements with our internal academy and external suppliers.
  • Creating and analysing training management information and monthly reports. Ensuring training records are aligned for the certificate of assurance, and that we meet our 97% target in all mandatory training.
  • Leading on the data capture and validation of information, ensuring Customer Connections has accurate training records on National Grid's preferred central systems.
  • Collaborating with our academy on all training requirements, course scheduling, and the provision of technical assistance.
  • Managing the Training and Capability SharePoint site, ensuring file structure and permissions are maintained correctly, and that all information is kept up to date.
  • Ensuring all new recruits both internal and agency are enrolled in all mandatory training for their role.
  • Assisting with shortlisting and assessment organisation around all Customer Connection training programmes.
