Reliable, person needed for a temporary caretaker role in a School.

The role is varied, but key areas are unlocking, locking, setting alarms, manning the entrance gates.


DAILY HOURS:
5.45am -9am & 2.45pm - 6.15pm

A basic level of competence is helpful for dealing with unexpected issues which may arise.

BELOW IS AN OUTLINE OF TEH POSITION. PLEASE BE AWARE FULL TRAING WILL BE GIVEN


Main Activities Key Accountabilities:


  • As the main keyholder be responsible for the security of the premises, to include the opening up and locking of premises including extended school provision and lettings and assisting the Estates and Facilities Manager in identifying a suitable keyholder to cover periods of absence.
  • To undertake a range of minor maintenance work as agreed with the Manager, with regard to the daytoday maintenance of the premises and its furnishings e.g. minor plumbing, changing light bulbs, unblocking drains, repairing door furniture.
  • To be responsible for the receiving of deliveries of goods and equipment and distributing as appropriate.
  • To be responsible for the general tidiness and safety of the outside areas e.g. the removal of litter and graffiti from paths and hard surfaces, to keep surface drains free of obstruction.
  • To be responsible for cleaning areas and undertake cleaning duties including emergency cleaning duties arising during the working day including graffiti removal, litterpicking.
  • To undertake general portage duties to include the setting out and putting away furniture as necessary.
  • Assist with the whole premises team with larger projects across the trust if needed.

Knowledge and Understanding
Maintain an up to date knowledge and understanding of:

  • Willingness to undertake induction training
  • Specific training in specialist area desirable / Relevant experience desirable / Handyperson experience desirable
  • Caretaking/sitekeeping experience in a school or similar environment desirable
  • Willingness to develop knowledge of use of ICT and other specialist equipment/resources
    Working knowledge of relevant polices/codes of practice/legislation desirable:
  • Self motivation
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions, including COSHH regulations
  • An awareness of health and hygiene procedures desirable
  • Knowledge of moving and handling procedures
  • Willingness to participate in development and training opportunities
  • Teamleading skills

Job Types:
Part-time, Temporary contract

Contract length: 12 weeks


Pay:
From £13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 33.75 per week


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday

Experience:

- cleaning: 2 years (preferred)


  • Janitorial: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • ENHANCED DBS (preferred)
