Cordius are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer (QA) to join the market leader in the aerospace and military industries based in Whitstable, Kent.


As a Manufacturing Engineer (QA), you will assist the Pre-Production Manufacturing Engineering Team Leader in the development of the quality engineering function, while meeting client needs.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, 8am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 1.30pm Friday

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interact with customers to evaluate and handle their complaints and issues.
  • Completely comply with the investigation and resolution process for concerns.
  • Collaborate on project paperwork, including customer requirements, design specifications, technical drawings and specifications, design verification and validation papers, and other project material.
  • Assume the role of team member and facilitator in ensuring that risk analyses are comprehensive, and that all product risks are recognised utilising DFMEAs, PFMEAs, APQP, MSA, and Capability Studies, as well as other risk management methodologies.
  • Construct, evaluate, and maintain quality metrics.
  • Undertake customer / supplier QMS audits and assist quality improvements for customers / suppliers.
  • Interact with suppliers from Purchasing, Engineering, and Manufacturing to improve process quality.
  • Develop policies, procedures, and methods for evaluating product, material, and/or operational quality.
  • Develop, ensure, maintain, and assess the quality of products and processes, including standard procedures (such as ISO 9001:2000 and the ISO 14000 family of standards) and quality audits/reviews.
  • Develop and implement technically complicated processes and procedures for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection to guarantee that products are defectfree and perform as intended.
  • Analyse reports and defective items to identify trends and suggest corrective steps.
  • Develop supplier quality improvement programmes and interacts with supplier quality representatives regarding quality issues.
  • Represent quality assurance in product design and development initiatives.
  • Ability to audit against ISO89001 and AS9100.
  • Carry out such additional duties that may be reasonably requested.

Person specification
Essential

  • HNC or higher in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of measuring equipment
  • Expertise conducting design reviews and ensuring that manufacturing problems are resolved with effective corrective actions and that the desired product quality is produced
  • Knowledge of PFMEA
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and associated standards
  • Root cause analysis and 8D problem resolution
  • Product verification (FAIR)
  • Bias towards mechanics with some electrical skills
  • An indepth comprehension of the NPI procedure and the manufacturing of products utilising highquality instruments to eliminate risk during production
  • Practical problemsolving abilities, including a comprehension of production processes and the ability to resolve challenges on the shop floor in order to develop viable countermeasures
  • Capability to accurately update and enhance textual and electronic documentation in accordance with business requirements
  • Effective communication skills
  • Capability to work both individually and collaboratively
Desirable

  • Prior experience of CREO or comparable CAD software with knowledge of product life cycle software
  • Prior experience as a Mechanical Process Engineer in a manufacturing or Process Engineering setting
  • Familiarity with MRP systems
  • Experience with connectors
  • Understanding of APQP processes
  • Understanding of MSA
