And for that, we need strong, proactive leadership.We are looking for an experienced and ambitious finance leader to join us as our Assistant Chief Financial Officer - Revenues, Assessments and Payments.
In this role, you will oversee the performance of the Revenues, Assessments, Payments and Finance Systems service and the delivery of high quality strategic aims, and assist both the Director of Finance and the Corporate Director for Resources in fostering the council's desired culture and objectives.
Salary up to £97,650 per annum.

About the role:
Working closely with Members and Corporate Management, you will be an active member of the Finance senior leadership team with collective responsibility for the managerial leadership of the function.
In this role you will:
- Develop and oversee the council's Pensions Strategy, ensure strategic financial management in Procurement, and enhance shareholder due diligence
- Manage Procurement to achieve savings, comply with legislation, and adopt a datadriven decisionmaking approach
- Support the Finance Director as a key financial advisor
- Maintain financial practices in compliance with laws and regulations, ensuring corporate governance and financial control
- Analyse financial trends to inform strategic planning
- Interpret complex financial data and provide timely updates
- Ensure adherence to financial and procurement frameworks, coordinate financial tasks, and report on corporate financial performance
- Balance corporate and local service interests, ensuring compliance with financial and legal obligations
- Serve as the principal financial advisor on pensions and procurement, offering guidance to management and service leads
- Lead pension administration, including payroll, investment, and accounting.
- Provide technical advice on control area issues
- Allocate resources for major corporate and service projects
- Implement GDPR transparency requirements, including privacy notices and data protection assessments
