The Widening Access Team at the University of Bath is seeking a motivated, flexible and hardworking individual for the role of Outreach Officer.


You will use your knowledge of the UK education system to develop and build on our network of schools and colleges across England and Wales.

Engaging with students from under-represented groups to support them to achieve a place at university and helping Bath achieve the targets set out in our Access and Participation Plan, you will join a well-established team that has a strong commitment to pursuing the goals of fair access at a University with a strong academic reputation.

As a Widening Access Outreach Officer, you will travel around the UK delivering in school activity.

You will be responsible for strengthening the reputation of Bath across the England and Wales, facilitating and representing the University at in-school/college events and HE fairs.

You will work directly with students in Key Stages 3 to 5 and their parents and advisers, supporting them to navigate the process of understanding, choosing and applying, and transitioning to university.

You will be responsible for the designing and delivering a suite of information talks and workshops as part of this work.

This post is full-time, working 36.5 hours per week.


About the Widening Access Team
The Widening Access Team is part of Student Recruitment and Admissions at the University.

The team is responsible for engaging and supporting students from under-represented students to progress to university particularly to Bath to achieve goals set out in the University's Access and Participation Plan.

The team is well established and passionate about supporting students and are a fairly informal group.

Due to the nature of the work there is flexibility with working times, much of the work is structured around the school day so many events happen in the afternoons, evenings or weekends.


The work the team delivers is varied and ranges from in school and online activity to campus based events as well as sustained programmes for groups of students.

The team work a lot with third sector organisations to be able to support as many students as possible.
