JOB TITLE
Raw Material Technologist
REPORTS TO
Technical Manager
DATE OF ISSUE
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The role involves overseeing the creation and management of new raw material codes, which includes requesting and updating necessary information from suppliers.
The role holder is tasked with conducting raw material risk assessments, ensuring that all raw material and supplier information—including certifications like Halal and Kosher—is current and comprehensive.
Key responsibilities include Approval of raw materials and suppliers. Conducting internal audits. Addressing and investigating supplier complaints. Active participation in HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and internal audit teams.Additionally, the role requires:
Providing backup for the Quality Assurance Technician and the Specifications Technologist. Participating in customer and third-party audits, assisting particularly in information retrieval and traceability of finished products. Involvement in taste panels and substituting for the Quality Assurance Assistant as needed. The individual must adopt a 'right, first-time' approach and always ensure adherence to health and safety protocols.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY AND STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
- Adhere to all trained safe systems of work and always follow health and safety "golden rules" within (ITS).
- Understand and comply with customer codes of practice, flavoring legislation, and specific certification requirements (e.g., Organic, RSPO, GMP, Kosher, Halal, and BRC).Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed and maintain accurate traceability and documentation by ensuring all paperwork is correctly completed and signed.
- Collaborate with the Technical Manager to meet departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Maintain food safety and quality standards by conducting product testing, performing internal audits, and keeping documentation up to date.
- Establish cooperative relationships with relevant departments and colleagues, keeping them informed of potential issues affecting product safety or customer requirements.
- Engage in the Performance Development Review (PDR) process to become fully trained in all departmental areas, including crosstraining with other departments to meet customer demands and business needs. Stay motivated to fulfill your role within the designated department. In the absence of the Technical Manager, initially consult with the Operations Manager for decisionmaking.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Must possess strong communication skills for confident and professional interactions with both internal teams and external customers.
- Demonstrates the determination to complete tasks thoroughly, overcoming challenges and obstacles along the way.
- Should have a userlevel proficiency in standard software systems relevant to the role.
- Required to hold a Level 2 certification in Food Safety, HACCP Level 2, and have completed COSHH training and internal audit training.
- Able to maintain selfcontrol, work under pressure, and make confident decisions in a dynamic environment.

Pay:
£25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
