Our client is a superb charity based in Reading who seek to hire Commercial Finance Analyst.

The role will support with global projects and report to the Commercial Finance Lead in providing financial and commercial advice to the Research & Consultancy portfolio.


Job objectives:

  • Consult and review contract budgeting/forecasting projections with budget holders, providing point of contact for challenge, clarification, and areas of risk/opportunity within contract financial performance. Support the delivery of financial goals andensure they lie within required business and contract priorities.
  • Support on the provision of financial commercial support to UK based budget holders and Operations Managers in the delivery of their inyear and longerterm financial objectives and assist them with internal and external financial reporting as required.
  • Support in the provision of visibility on the financial performance of contracts in the short, medium and long term. Ensure that where appropriate activities meet or improve on budget, cost, volume and efficiency targets and Key Performance Indicators inline with business objectives.
  • Produce the summary monthly reporting pack and supporting narrative for the portfolio of projects to ensure accurate information is fed into the Consolidated Management Accounts. Liaise with Operational Management to ensure narratives are accurate and complete,highlighting key risks and mitigating actions to the UK Commercial Finance Lead.
  • Review the detailed monthly Management Accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness and consistency with Trust policies and procedures. Provide guidance on technical queries to ensure correct accounting treatment is understood and followed, ensuring correctincome recognition policies are adhered to.
  • Lead on the mobilisation of new contracts, ensuring management accounts are set up to support the operational team with life cycle tracking and ability to compare actuals with forecast.
  • Prepare accurate and timely detailed monthly management accounts in order to compare actual performance against budget. Highlight any areas of concern to the budget holder and ensure updated narratives are provided with any mitigating actions.
  • Ensure correct balances for deferred and accrued income and regularly review the accruals commitment to ensure accuracy. Liaise with operational teams to ensure the self service element of Agresso is used correctly and ensure regular housekeeping is performed.
  • Provide training for budget holders in finance processes ensuring procedures are fully understood and followed.
  • Regularly liaise with the Financial Accounting team to ensure the correct balance sheet position is shown in the accounts. Investigate any discrepancies and ensure sufficient justification is available to support the balances.
A salary of £35,000-£40,000 is on offer with great benefits, 30 days annual leave plus 8 days bank holidays, up to 6% matched pension and it's a 35 hour working week
