We are looking for a talented individual to join the Business Intelligence DPRU Team who has a drive and passion in delivering an exemplar service and who would like to progress a career in this profession.


The applicant should possess excellent numerical skills, a methodical approach, a high degree of accuracy in their work and the ability to prioritise work.

Knowledge and use of Microsoft SQL and Excel.

The post holder will be required to provide management and workload direction within CSU Data Processing and Reporting Unit (DPRU), for CSU DC BI service, to ensure the timely receipt and processing of data and for the delivery of central business intelligence products supporting NHS England Direct Commissioning services

Core Duties and Responsibilities (Key Result Areas)

  • The Post Holder will work directly with the Head of DPRU/DPRU Senior Manager and the regional and national analysis service leads to ensure effective service delivery and to ensure core service outputs are delivered on time and as per requirement
  • Will provide analytical support for all routine DPRU work, providing effective support to the analysis service teams and directly to NHSE/I customers
  • The post holder will provide managerial cover for any operational staff
  • Will attend all operational meetings as required
  • Maintain a culture of "US" and not allowing the service to fragment between the DPRU Team and wider teams
  • Will ensure all Ad-Hocs (including regional) reporting requests are logged, quality assured and delivered to agreed scheduled
  • Will produce and analyse data quality monitoring reports relating to data sets, to ensure information produced is credible and adheres to NHSE Data Specifications
  • Be able to explain issues in respect of data quality/information to staff at all levels and define solutions
  • Provide information system and data quality expertise to support senior staff
  • Represent the organisation with respect to training programmes and delivery of presentations
  • Develop excellent working relationship with the Head of DPRU and Commissioning Analysis Teams
  • Will work in conjunction with the NHSE/I National Direct Commissioning Team
  • Will define and develop new NCDR report outputs where appropriate
  • Provide leadership to the DPRU team
  • Manage and drive the uptake of the NCDR Portal
  • Will define and develop content for the NCDR portal and support the process of continuous improvement of content
  • Drive the move towards selfservice at scale reporting and manage the retirement of excel based products
  • Ensure the DPRU team managers deliver the production of the core DPRU products to the agreed schedules, escalating any issues to the Head of the DPRU
  • Ensure the DPRU team are equipped with the skills and tools to deliver an effective service, working closely with the Senior Manager
  • DPRU Automation & Solutions to drive continuous improvements in processes and automation
  • Ensure robust processes are in place to track, triage and define business rule changes to core products including Contract Monitoring, SUS v PLCM reconciliations, routine activitybased challenges, and data compliance
  • Ensure robust processes are in place to monitor NHSE/I Direct commissioning dataflows, ensuring templates are maintained on the DLP, warnings/failures are transacted, and all supportive reporting and communication is in place.
  • Take a lead in at least one in depth area from the following, providing cover and support to colleagues as required; Clinical Registries, Armed Forces, High Cost/CDF Drugs.
