Job Overview


We are currently recruiting for Head of Operations to join our passionate and driven team based at our client's site in National - West Coast Mainline.

Head of Operations responsibilities include implementing policies, overseeing customer service and implementing technology solutions.

You will be a responsible leader with an analytical and strategic mind and have a broad knowledge of the business.

You will be committed to productivity and compliance. Ultimately, you'll ensure our operations run smoothly and that people are safe productive.

The management and leadership of the LNER contract and services is devolved to the Contract Account Director and within their team to Head of Operations, Regional Operations Managers, Senior Health and Safety Manager, Business Support Manager who are empowered to deliver effective and responsive services through devolved authority, accountability, and control.

The LNER Contract Management team works with the Divisional director, senior Atalian Servest management and wider stakeholders to develop and deliver the contract; set and implement policy and coordinate the activities of the regional teams.

They ensure appropriate governance of commercial and financial oversight and coordinate the central supporting functions.

Key Responsibilities:


  • In conjunction with Stakeholders and other Atalian Servest managers set strategy and annual plans for your regional area taking into consideration short, medium and long term aims and have full accountability for the implementation and delivery of the LNER contract Management strategy.
  • Responsibility and accountability for all financial and commercial oversight and control within your region.
  • Working collaboratively with all stakeholders in your region and across the Atalian Servest where applicable, be a champion for change; challenging existing policies and processes and advocate new ways of working, influencing stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure buyin.
  • Overall responsibility for leading the effective operational delivery and facilitation of all Services within your Business region.
  • Hold regional reviews as required by the contract with the other regional managers.
  • Liaise closely with the Regional Operations Managers to ensure common service delivery standards and collaborative working.
  • Working closely with Contract Director to review and implement new initiatives, legislation and other changes both internal and external.
  • Overall responsibility for the management of operating costs for the LNER contract and oversight of the Operations Team; this includes all operating costs for each site and includes responsibility for the approval of expenditure from your allocated budget.
  • Authorise expenditure as agreed by the Contract Director.
  • Ensuring that site budgets are robustly monitored through regular reviews and spot checks. Making recommendations for and implementing control improvements as necessary.
  • Provide regular financial reports regarding budget and funding commitments to the Contract Director as and when required.
  • Production and reporting of a monthly detailed hours report for each location and the capture and reporting of additional costs incurred to be charged to LNER.
  • Ensuring adherence to governance requirements, systems and process.
  • Ensuring cost effectiveness and value for money to Atalian Servest and the LNER Client.
  • Working collaboratively with Atalian Servest supplier(s) and Contract Staff, be accountable for the confident delivery of excellent high performing services to LNER and stakeholders.
  • Lead in the management of the LNER contract, ensuring services meet the requirements of the contract, Atalian Servest and LNER.
  • The Regularly review and reporting on the delivery of the LNER contract and the delivery of an effective Service within your region.
  • Interface with the clients, service providers and stakeholders, undertaking contractual reviews and 'scoring'.
