Decontamination - St Albans

37.5 hours & Permanent

£23,166 plus benefits

We have an opportunity for a Helpdesk Despatcher to join their team of staff in the Decontamination department based in St. Albans

This is a Full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern working 5 out of 7 days

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Maths, English GCSE at grades A to C or equivalent functional skills level 2 evidence
  • Proficient in the use of a PC, including the use of software and systems
  • Call Handling Experience
  • Previous administration experience in a private healthcare environment.
  • Sterile services knowledge
  • Must have good administration and computer skills

Duties of this role include:


  • To provide a firstclass decontamination sterile service to the Operating Theatres, clinical departments and relevant paramedical departments
  • To assist in the answering of calls from customers and preparing/amending tray lists
  • To assist with the ordering and storage of supplies as required.
  • To dispatch instruments to various locations as required.
  • To assist in the provision of decontamination, checking, assembly, packing, sterilisation and delivery of medical and surgical equipment and sundry items to/for the customer.
  • To maintain good working relationships with all customers and staff.
  • To assist with stock levels and stock control.
  • To promote and maintain Health & Safety within the department
  • To ensure processes are followed and in accordance with policies and procedures
