Heart of England Community Foundation is an independent charity with over 27 years' experience delivering bespoke grant programmes on behalf of a range of donors across the West Midlands and Warwickshire.


We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, creative and innovative to join our team and help us to engage, inspire and influence more people across the West Midlands and Warwickshire.

The role will involve raising the profile of our work - working across all areas of communications including digital, media, design, PR, events, social and publications.


We are looking for someone who will excel at working closely across our team, and also with external partners, community organisations, funders and donors.


This role is pivotal to supporting the delivery of our long-term strategies and goals and you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of a wide range of tasks and projects across the whole communications mix including channel specific comms, content development, online and offline and supporting creative design and editing as well as coordinating and assisting with events.


As part of a dynamic communications team, you will promote the work of the Community Foundation by supporting a range of PR and marketing activities, including press and media communications and helping produce and write for publications.

You will also help with digital communications, including producing content for our website and social media, and managing our image library.


Main Responsibilities


Take a journalistic approach to proactively finding, writing and editing accurate, interesting and compelling stories and case studies from across the Community Foundation for online and offline channels.


Write high quality, compelling and engaging content for all channels including press releases, blogs, news stories, editorial, case studies and project updates.


Assist the Senior Manager - Communications and other members of the Leadership Team, with the planning and producing of editorial and press releases to increase the Community Foundation's media presence.


Provide support for the Community Foundation's editorial and other publications, including sourcing images, copywriting, editing, proofreading, assisting with design and liaising with external suppliers.

Repurpose relevant local, regional and national media for use across our channels e.g. blogs and social media.


Support the Senior Manager - Communications, with monitoring, analysing and reporting on our content media coverage including regular planning and review meetings.

Support the team with managing and coordinating integrated social media and website content.

Support with the production and posting of creative multimedia content for social media and website channels.

Support with website design and regular updates.


Management of our image and brand asset library, helping to ensure that it is up to date and fit for purpose.

Including uploading images, recording copyright and consent information and sourcing new media.

Collate and report on key statistics such as website traffic, social media engagement and direct mail metrics.


Support with the design and creation of branded materials for key activities and events such as signage, posters, leaflets and merchandise.

Support with researching and developing new branded assets.

Input creative ideas for campaigns, outputs and project communications.


Person Specification


This role will suit somebody who has some existing experience in copywriting and digital media, who is looking to build their career in marketing and communications, while also playing a role in supporting local organisations across the Third Sector during a hugely exciting time for the Community Foundation.


Essential Skills & Criteria
Experience of using and/or working with various social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

Experience of producing written copy for online and/or offline channels

Demonstrate a high level of literacy in written and spoken English

Ability to write engaging and creative copy for a variety of channels and formats

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and social media management tools

Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail

Strong time management skills
