Ealing Council is offering newly qualified environmental health graduates or food safety officers an exciting role to work in the Food & Workplace Safety Team within the Regulatory Services department.


Job Role Expectations:

***This new job role within the Food & workplace Safety Team is being funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). This role is fixed term for 1 year, however there is potential for further work. The primary goal of the UKSPF is to build pride in place and increase life chances across the UK, by boosting productivity, opportunities, pay, jobs and living standards by growing the private sector and by improving public services.


For this Food Safety Advisor Role, some of the tasks you will be expected to undertake include:

  • Offer support, advice and guidance to food businesses so they can achieve full legal compliance.
  • You will work under instructions from the Food and Workplace Safety Team Leader, provide close liaison, advocacy, and support for local food businesses, working with Business Growth Officers, business groups, and trader associations to promote takeup of support, and contribute towards economic growth within the borough.
  • You will also be expected to respond to, and where necessary, help individual officers with following up on information requests for service in relation to food safety.

Food establishments account for more than 4,000 of those business, including a significant number of large-scale food processors and manufacturers, and businesses that import/export food products from around the globe.

Ealing also has excellent transport links, being easily accessible by car and public transport.

Ealing Broadway Station is five minutes' walk from our offices and is served by both London Underground, the Elizabeth Line, and Great Western train lines.

If you use your vehicle for work, we will also be able to offer free parking around our offices.

Applicants Must:


  • Ideally hold, or be about to obtain, a CIEH accredited qualification in Environmental Health at a minimum of level 6 (i.e., BSc, MSc, or Level 6 Apprenticeship)
  • Or a professional qualification relevant to Food Safety such as Higher Certificate in Food Control or The Advanced Professional Certificate in Food Hygiene and Standards Control.
