Role overview:

We're looking for you to come and manage the global events operations of Tes. You'll be leading on the strategy, implementation, review, and improvement of all Tes events.

You will take responsibility for the prestigious Tes School Awards, our annual celebration of the achievements of staff and schools across the UK.

Events are run across UK, Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia. However, only a select few require attendance by the Head of Events.

The events calendar and processes have gone through major evolution over the last two years to centralise activity and create a more strategic view of how events help the business meet its objectives.

This development has also enabled us to approach events in a more consistent manner and better engage with other stakeholders, such as sales.

However, we are still early in this journey and need a confident, experienced individual to further develop this function, its approaches, its strategy, and its relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the events team, with colleagues in both UK and Australia.
  • Act as one of the senior representatives of a global marketing function.
  • Own the overall events calendar; keeping it updated and reviewing new events for consideration in collaboration with other marketing stakeholders.
  • Own the event toolkits that allow others to selfserve for local events, including pullup banners and pods. Working with marketing colleagues to ensure we have the correct information and collateral available at events.
  • Work with other marketing colleagues and Sales to review our approach, costs, and objectives of events, including targets, and postevent reporting.
  • Ensure correct branding and stand design at events including working with suppliers to set out larger structural designs.
  • Work with marketing colleagues to set out our strategy for speaking/seminars at events and set plans in place as appropriate.
  • Take ownership of planning and delivery of Tes Awards, our large highprofile industry awards. This includes managing venues, entries, judging and ceremonies. Manage the various stakeholders and suppliers linked with the awards to ensure smooth and successful running leading up to the event, during the event, and post event. With the support of the Event Executive.
  • Drive and grow the sponsorship plan for awards, drive the acquisition of sponsors, and oversee the delivery of obligations against those arrangements.
  • Establish the new Tes Awards for International Schools, our alldigital awards for British international schools.
  • Support the wider business in pulling together a complete picture of webinars, and support the wider marketing function to decide on an overall webinar strategy.
What will you need to succeed?

  • Highly organised with project management skills and able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to enable strong working relationships both across the wider marketing function and outside of marketing.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to identify potential issues and find solutions.
  • Highly driven, with a sense of urgency, and motivated to create change in line with business objectives.
  • Able to work withing evolving environments, dealing with nuances and edge cases on the move.
  • A sound understanding of marketing practices to enable easy working with other marketing professionals on joint ventures.
  • Experienced at managing a team and developing individuals.
