Description

Purpose:


The senior buyer is responsible for the identification of best cost, high performing suppliers for Hyperbat to support business growth and improve performance.

The buyer will provide support for new business enquiries from the Business Development team and work and support the manufacturing engineering and quality departments.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Benchmark UK, EU, and ROW supply chain to establish required commercial targets
  • Create, implement, and maintain strategic sourcing strategies for a commodity portfolio.
  • Undertake spend analysis, supplier assessment and supplier selection to Hyperbat processes.
  • Engage with cross functional teams in delivering supply chain strategies within project timescales.
  • Early supplier engagement in design concept, design review and design release.
  • Identify supply chain internal cost drivers, agree action plans, and instigate activities to address
  • Trial alternative materials with selected suppliers.
  • Investigate process improvements and implement agreed solutions.
  • Tier 2 purchasing intervention and support.
  • Compile benchmark work packages to use for each potential product group.
  • Engage with long list of identified suppliers (NDA, RFQ, Supplier Questionnaire, potential audit).
  • Understand with short list of identified suppliers key cost drivers for their product and their business.
  • Create Value Stream Map (VSM) with each of the shortlisted suppliers to identify waste and areas for commercial improvement.
  • Develop internal investment plan for Make v Buy and compare to supplier costs.
  • Engage Unipart/Hyperbat design team with supply chain to gain early involvement in designing cost out of products.
  • Deliver product and market workshops to share knowledge and best practice between Unipart, project partners and suppliers.
  • Identify alternative materials to research through the project with partners and suppliers to understand feasibility and cost.
  • Understand key skills and capability requirements throughout the supply chain and establish plans to address gaps as required

Experience and Skills:


  • Demonstrated track record of success in cost down programmes, supplier management
  • Evidence of international travel to include sourcing of commodities from India, China & Eastern Europe.
  • CIPS Qualified
  • A high achiever, who seeks the opportunity to explore their potential
  • Proactive with an ability to seek out commercial opportunities and to secure tangible results for the business
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload in a fastpaced automotive environment
  • Possess the ability to exercise sound judgement and risk management in high pressure environment
  • Results orientated, enthusiastic, selfmotivated, and driven procurement professional with a bias for action/ability to get results, a selfstarter with a 'can do' attitude

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and persuade others through negotiation and BATNA practices.
