  • 07-Aug-2023A great opportunity has become available for a Food, Safety & Quality Compliance Officer to join a company that is a Market Leader in Meat Processing. The role is full-time, permanent based at their site in Preston.


As a Food Safety & Compliance Officer you will be responsible for the Management of the Site Food Safety & Quality Systems ensuring efficient policing of product quality, safety and legality; liaising with all relevant departments with respect to any compliance or food safety issue.


  • Key responsibilities:
  • Lead and conduct internal audits to ensure BRC requirements, company standards and customer expectations are met Report the results of internal audits, reviews back to business, encouraging best practice and continuous improvement.
  • Participate as a member of the HACCP team, attend regular meetings and update HACCP plan when needed.
  • Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies Revising procedures, reports etc. periodically to identify hidden risk or nonconformity issues.
  • Review, modify and disseminate written policies and procedures related to compliance activities. Discuss emerging compliance issues with Site Management and/ or relevant teams.
  • Support employee training on compliance related topics, policies or procedures. Provide assistance to internal or external auditors in compliance reviews.
  • Ensure management and maintaining of site Quality Manual System Ensure development, maintenance and dissemination of specification documents by the relevant manager responsible.
  • Assist with and /or conduct project based work for the Site FSQ Manager and Site MD To ensure effective communication between each Food Safety department and production department.

About you:

  • Be able to illustrate a proven track record in a similar role, ideally from within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Have a clear understanding of food hygiene, food safety, HACCP, health and safety and quality systems.
  • Be results driven and able to improve performance within the department.
  • Have strong people management skills with the ability to drive performance and develop the team.
  • Possess excellent organisational skills with ability to plan workloads effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Be able to demonstrate Leadership skills, be confident and committed and able to accept responsibility.
  • Have strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • English is essential in this role as is the ability to operate computers and computer software.
The Salary for this role is £35,000 - £40,000 DOE
