Overview of the role:
Our Teaching Assistant Apprentices provide assistance in a range of ways.

They will support teachers and pupils in the classroom; lead groups for learning and support children with SEN and additional and different needs in a range of ways including 1:1 support.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to begin a career in education.

Working primarily with children aged 4-11 the roles and responsibilities will include the following (under guidance of the teacher or teaching assistant):


  • Set up and prepare learning activities
  • Set up the classroom and learning environment
  • Support preparation
  • Plan and prepare interventions for small groups of learners
  • Help supervise the children in the classroom and playground.
  • Help and support at lunchtimes
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs
  • Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement
  • Assist with the planning of learning activities
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with other teachers, staff, and parents
  • Lead small groups in learning activities
  • Monitor pupils' responses to learning activities and accurately record achievements/progress as directed
  • Supporting with classroom duties
  • Support learners with additional and different needs
  • Work 1to1 with a SEN pupils

Apprenticeship Summary:

  • You will work towards your Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification across a total duration of 18 months
  • All online/remote learning, no classroom or college day release
  • An allocated tutor will support you throughout the apprenticeship

Apprenticeship Overview


During this teaching assistant apprenticeship you will promote self-belief, social inclusion and high self-esteem which will play an integral part to pupils' wellbeing.

You will become an essential part in the learning environment for the classroom teacher and pupils. Working to ensure pupils thrive in a positive, nurturing and safe environment. It is an active role supporting the learner to access the curriculum and expand their knowledge. TAs play a crucial role in supporting teachers and pupils. Your work can have a significant impact on the children's learning experiences, helping them to succeed academically and personally.
