Otto James Consulting are working with a truly fantastic retail organisation at Head Office level that is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager, ideally with a retail sector background acting in a similar role.
Based in South Manchester, the client is easily accessible by road and rail, while also offering home working flexibility.Main duties:
- Managing a friendly finance AP team. This will include all aspects of management, such as recruitment and training, development and motivation of the team.
- Overseeing obligations and activities to ensure they are completed accurately and on time, to the high company standards.
- Setting and driving forward departmental objectives.
- Conceiving and implementing department budgets and practices to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Building and maintaining relationships with all internal staff and stakeholders, as well as clients and third party organisations.
- Prepare supplier payments, ensuring all suppliers are paid timely and correctly.
Other functions would include:
- Cash Flow management for scheduled payments.
- Ensuring banking information is correct and balances are reconciled for payments.
- Managing direct debits and other payments matching against received invoices.
- Dealing with escalated queries from internal / external stakeholders.
- Calculation of supplier rebates.
- Producing an outstanding PO report on a monthly basis.
- Reconciling the aged creditors report and ensuring all suppliers are up to date.
- Posting invoices to the MS Dynamics NAV system as needed.
- Seeking authorisation for invoices when required.
- Verifying supplier invoices against purchase orders and delivery notes.
- Reconciling invoices to supplier's statements.
- Any other adhoc duties required by the Financial Controller.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Accounts Payable experience to a senior level.
- Proven experience in being the strong leader of an Accounts Payable team.
- Experience of reconciling ledgers.
- Experience of working with nonfinancial department stakeholders to solve problems.
- Proven MS Office, and particularly Excel, skills
- Excellent communicator, both written and orally
- Be selfmotivated and possess proven team worker skills
