We are now looking for an
Audio Producer (12 month fixed term contract or staff secondment) to work on the Guardian's hugely successful
Audio Long Read podcast and others as required.


The Audio Long Read is the audio version of the Guardian's long reads, and gives listeners the opportunity to listen of the finest in-depth writing from around the world on issues such as politics, immigration, crime, technology, the arts and much more.

In this role you'll deliver three episodes a week, work to short turnaround times, and work with writers, editors and voice over talent.


About the Role

  • Responsible for production of three weekly episodes of The Audio Long Read
  • Continually developing the strand with new ideas and talent, recording in studio, scripting, editing and mixing to professional standards, often on tight deadlines.
  • Working closely with executive producers and editors to guarantee the highest levels of creativity and editorial standards.
  • Playing an active part in The Guardian's audio audio team and looking for opportunities to showcase our journalism and values in an audio form.
  • Working where required with a variety of Guardian departments including social, marketing and membership, etc, to assist discoverability and promotion of podcasts.

About You

  • Experience in audio documentary/drama, professional podcasting, or audiobook production
  • A keen eye on the news cycle, as well as a passion for longform journalism
  • The ability to produce, edit, score, sound design and mix to broadcast standard with a short turnaround.
  • Experienced in editing packages, podcasts, or documentary audio
  • Experience of working with onair talent and voiceover artists, as well as a good ear for music and sound design, is an advantage.
  • Ideally you'll have a demonstrable ability to bring a diverse perspective to this role.
