The Opportunity...


As our next Construction Superintendent, with your expertise within you're discipline, you will manage a team of Field Engineers (deemed as Practitioner) to take responsibility for Surveillance Activities in accordance with a Surveillance Programme on Hinkley Point C (HPC) Construction Site.


You will be responsible for Leading and / or Supporting the drafting of the Surveillance Programme (in their scope of responsibilities and discipline) and will be responsible for the "Delivery" of quality compliance within the designated section of the Works.

What you will be doing
In this role, you'll be responsible for the management of your Team of Field Engineers who will perform surveillance of quality compliance within the designated section of the Works in accordance with NNB surveillance strategy requirements and associated supporting documents, as well as:

  • Draft and support surveillance programmes and related documents as needed.
  • Ensure construction works comply with work information and notify stakeholders of defects before completion.
  • Review contractor performance against authorised inspection and test plans (ITP) and work information.
  • Submit details to the NEC supervisor for qualityrelated amending documents.
  • Advise quality and delivery teams on quality, safety, and progress issues.
  • Maintain proactive communication with site teams and ensure timely activity reporting.
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly reports, maintaining performance and KPI indicators.
  • Support safety and quality measures, taking actions to prevent work stoppages.
  • Develop the team with insights into current and future site activities.
  • Ensure tasks meet programme and quality standards for health, safety and environment.

Who you are


To excel as our next Construction Superintendent, you will have broad knowledge of Construction & Installation techniques with high technical expertise across your specific types of Construction & Installation, discipline, and type of contract.

Specifically, you will have good working knowledge of the FIDIC contracts.

With proven management skills and commercial awareness and have solid experience in the role on a variety of Major Projects.


Other requirements for this role also include:

  • Extensive senior welding inspector or NDT experience and advance qualifications.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry with a strong emphasis on safety.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance standards, particularly ISO900
  • Thorough understanding of design obligations under CDM Regulations, ensuring compliance throughout the process.
  • Experience in managing staff.
  • Demonstrate success in managing large complex projects.
  • Experience in installing and erecting large mechanical and electrical plants.
  • Effective organisational, delegation and communication skills, to establish effective relationships with stakeholders, staff, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Comprehensive understanding of materials, trade methods, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to write clear and relevant contract diaries.
