Up to £39,027 (experience dependent)

Permanent, Term Time Only (37.5 hours per week)

The Role:

The speech and language therapist is responsible for assessment, intervention and consultation, to facilitate development of students' communication and eating and drinking skills.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Ensure duties are carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations as given by the Young Epilepsy health and safety policy and procedures.
To meet the needs of all students on your caseload effectively by working in partnership with other disciplines, especially the Therapy and Psychology teams.
Demonstrate awareness of the roles of all other Therapy and Health disciplines.
Work collaboratively with other disciplines in education and residential services.
To manage a delineated caseload of students with epilepsy and/or autism spectrum disorders together with other complex development.
Provide opinion on suitability of Young Epilepsy to meet a student's needs.
Provide a baselines and ongoing assessment of each student's communication and/or eating/drinking skills where used.
Deliver and inform parents of the aims of regular therapy sessions.
To run training sessions for interrail staff in association with other SLTs on related area of specialism.
Offer external training courses in association with members of the SLT team or other staff at Young Epilepsy as appropriate.
Participate in staff induction as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

Registered member of the RCSLT.
Certificate to practise from RCSLT.
Postgraduate clinical SLT experience in a range of settings.
Experience in staff training within an education setting for autism or complex needs would be advantageous.
