About the Role

  • Lockheed Martin Strategic Systems is looking for an Engineering & Compliance Officer to join or team onsite in Coulport, Argyll and Bute, Scotland. As an employer of choice we can offer outstanding development, career progression and benefits including a 4 day working week.
  • The Engineering & Compliance Officer is a vital member of the Engineering and Compliance Team, trusted in the provision of Quality Assurance and Engineering, in support to the UK Submarine Strategic Weapons System (SWS) Program. Accountable to the Engineering Compliance Manager, you will be required provide support to SWS Missile and Launcher facility activities at RNAD Coulport, including Handling Operations, to ensure Trident SWS Engineering and Quality standards are achieved on all Flight Hardware and Support Equipment. This includes the provision of Engineering and Quality advice and support on processing and maintenance operations, as well as resolution of documentation anomalies and equipment faults.
    Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure staff under supervision are adequately trained and certified to perform their duties and periodically provide line manager with details of accomplished training and certification operations
  • Oversee and provide Engineering support to on vehicles specific to on site transport of SWS hardware
  • Ensure compliance with MoD and locally approved procedures, instructions and publications.
  • Ensure discrepant conditions and defects are dispositioned in accordance with approved procedures and when required initiate and direct diagnostic/fault finding investigations
  • Prepare and submit defect reports and documentation anomalies for external transmittal and maintain a suitable register/database of records.
  • Review defect/documentation responses and carry out remedial action
  • Plan, coordinate and direct a Slow Run Through (SRT) on new or modified equipment and documentation.
  • Review new or changes to equipment drawings and documentation
  • Conduct Quality Surveillance audits on processes and operations within section area of responsibility. Conduct engineering investigations as directed by stakeholders.
  • Review and maintain records of completed reports
  • Review/comment on safety approvals.
  • Supervise a team of Quality Control Inspectors, during facility and operational events
  • Produce and review locally generated documentation.
  • Propose, produce and review US/UK equipment modifications and documentation changes
  • Attend stakeholder meetings as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) or as directed by line management. Travel within UK and to USA, may be required
  • Support US/UK Audits and Evaluation programs.

Required skills, qualifications and experience

  • This is a demanding role within a team environment, therefore the ability to work under pressure using strict adherence to procedures and being able problem solve within the SWS programme environment is a must.
  • Proven experience in both production and quality assurance workplace
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as well as having the ability to communicate effectively, both formally and informally, with a wide range of people including management, internal and external program stakeholders
  • The successful applicant must have good communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders and customers
  • A fast learner with good analytical skills who can demonstrate problem solving & decisionmaking capabilities
  • Enthusiastic, proactive selfmotivated and committed to personal professional development within the risk & opportunity management field of Programme management
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently
  • SC clearance or ability to attain SC clearance

Desirable

  • Proven experience on SWS Missile/Launcher flight hardware and SSE systems.
  • Working knowledge of associated SWS disciplines and documentation
  • Experience in motor vehicle maintenance or inspection
