Faculty / Directorate


Student and Academic Services is responsible for providing a wide and diverse range of services to all our students including Admissions, Graduation, Student Welfare, Careers & Employability, Student Finance and Academic Quality.


The Careers Team provides students and graduates with a broad range of support and opportunities that enhance their skills and experience so that they are able to progress in to graduate level careers.

Ranging from the delivery of embedded sessions in coursesto supporting students to gain year-long placements the Careers Team engages with thousands of students and graduates every year.


Role


Leading the faculty-based Careers Teams and the Employer Engagement Team this senior management role is crucial to ensuring that the strategic aims and objectives of the department are met.


The role oversees a significant proportion of the Careers Teams delivery of embedded and extra-curricular activities and programmes that support the institutions targets related to improved Graduate Outcomes.


You will need to align resources to maximise impact against key metrics as well as to support the University's TEF and APP requirements.

You will also be expected to demonstrate the department's value and impact to our main stakeholders across the University.


As a member of the department's senior management team the post holder will be responsible for helping to continuously improve an award-winning service so that the needs of our students and the university remain at the heart of what we do.


You will have a proven background in leading impactful teams and be able to demonstrate your experience of adopting a strategic approach and operationalising strategies within the Careers service of a Higher Education institution.


It is crucial that you are approachable, with a positive, pro-active mindset whilst also be experienced in building partnerships with internal and external stakeholders that provide positive beneficial outcomes.


Data led and impact focussed you will be aware of the strategic drivers that influence and shape a contemporary university Careers service.

You will need to be able to drive increased student engagement and use data alongside intelligence to identify targetstudent cohorts.


It is essential that you understand the graduate labour market and have an awareness of current approaches to delivering sector-leading embedded and extra-curricular careers support.
