An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 2/3 HCSW to work within the Pre-Assessment Unit which currently assesses the following specialities: Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Gynae, ENT, Breast, OMFS and Urology.


The Pre-Assessment Unit pride themselves on high standards and are committed to ensuring patients have the best possible experience before they are admitted into hospital.

  • Meet and greet patients attending the department
  • To ensure patients privacy and dignity are maintained at all times
  • Accurately undertake and record patient observation, reporting any abnormalities immediately to a registered nurse
  • Undertake requested investigations such as Height & Weight, ECG, Venepuncture, Peak flows, reporting any abnormalities immediately to a registered nurse
  • Document necessary information on the departments electronic preassessment system
  • Accurately file information in patient's notes

Working as part of a team, you will require a flexible approach, commitment to providing excellent standards of care, able to prioritise and organise your workload and communicate effectively within the team and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Whilst based at Neath Port Talbot hospital you will be required to work across SBUHB sites when needed.
