CAR DRIVER AND OWNER ESSENTIAL

Job Purpose:


To ensure that high quality domiciliary care services are delivered to service users through efficient management within the contracted service area.

To manage on a day to day basis the coordination and preparation of rotas, care packages and care staff. To support and supervise the Senior Care Assistants.


Coordinating involves not only the day to day management of care packages and the maintenance of rounds on Care Planner, but also liaising with the FHC Review Officer to ensure service user and carer concerns are appropriately and effectively addressed and fully resolved, referring to the Office Manager when necessary and as required.

To address developmental needs of care staff in the team and performance levels through supervision (one to ones) and to ensure observations of practice and other compliance tasks are completed according to the target dates.

You will arrange and participate in group supervisions/team meetings.

To support and monitor new care staff during their three month probation periods and to ensure all required documentation and observations are completed and new care staff receive carefully selected rounds to support them to complete the Care Certificate and enhance staff retention.


To contribute towards the development of domiciliary care services in Essex to meet the changing needs of service users and commercial contracts with Essex County Council and local health authorities.

To assist and support the development of services within the private sector.


Area Coordinating:


  • Supervise and support the care team in day to day service delivery to the highest possible standard, ensuring all visits are covered and that no visits are missed or cancelled
  • To reallocate visits and rounds speedily, effectively and safely at all times, ensuring care staff are spoken to directly and instructions confirmed by text to avoid any misunderstandings or missed visits
  • To train and support Senior Care Assistants to participate in providing the oncall service and completing compliance related tasks
  • To ensure oncall staff are telephoned or seen daily to be updated, e.g. hospital admissions, concerns about service users and general issues
  • To ensure all changes that have taken place out of office hours are entered onto Roster the very next working morning
  • To alert the FHC Review officer regarding any possible visit reductions/increases/changes required to a care/support plan or when risk assessments need to be reviewed
  • To monitor and ensure staff adherence to policies, procedures and processes
  • To maintain a working knowledge of relevant UK/EC legislation, CQC Essential Standards for domiciliary care, best practice and codes of practice that impact positively on the provision of community based care services
  • To ensure new or updated FHC Support Plans are delivered within maximum 48 hours. Ensuring all care staff in the meantime are fully aware of the tasks to be completed and are made fully aware of any risks/special instructions whilst the FHC Support Plan is waiting to be delivered
  • To ensure all risk assessments are completed at the same time as a new or updated FHC Support Plan is delivered. Once the risk assessments have been quality checked you may be required to resolve any queries or concerns
  • To provide support and presence in the community providing care should the FHC Business Continuity Plan be activated
  • To contribute to a weekly care staff newsletter
  • To maintain the desks and office in a tidy and professional manner
  • To record journal notes in a speedy, concise and effective manner main points only are required, but they must be fully explanatory
  • To ensure all care staff sickness and other absences are recorded on Roster and all training attendance is also recorded on Roster
  • To ensure explanations are given for a frustrated visit and all cancelled visits
  • Maintain A1 round maintenance daily and weekly so that rounds are of the correct size, in the correct order and starting time and visits are being provided within the agreed arrival time windows
  • Maximise continuity of care when allocating rounds to care staff
  • Ensure no packages are refused without the authorisation of the Office Manager
  • Produce holiday rotas well in advance as required

CQC minimum standards and ECC Contract Compliance:

  • To ensure the Forest Homecare annual compliance/supervision programme which meets the Care Quality Commission's Compliance requirements is fully met and within the required time frames for all care staff.
  • To ensure all care staff are up to date with their mandatory training
  • Safeguarding, Medication and Moving & Handling
  • Responsibility for improving and maintaining high standards in service delivery, alertin
