As a Compliance Officer you will join a newly formed customer focussed compliance management team.


The new team has a remit to drive the University's health, safety, environment and operational risk agenda through effective engagement, promotion of best practice and monitoring processes to achieve a safe, sustainable and compliant Campus.


Compliance Officer Overview


You will be responsible for ensuring through monitoring and audit that the University's Statutory duties, obligations and objectives are achieved in respect of Asbestos Management, Fire Safety, Contractor Management, Gas Safety, Legionella and Electrical Safety and other associated mechanical and electrical services across all University properties.


Compliance Officer Role and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a results driven Annual Auditing Plan to ensure full compliance for both internal and external stakeholder services.
  • Ensure that the Control of Contractors Policy and Permit to Work System across the Estate is followed
  • Comprehensive knowledge of legislation, regulation and compliance relating to health, safety and operational risk within a business context
  • Comfortable saying "no" when necessary and be resultorientated
  • Ensure that all compliance evidence is up to date and complete and where necessary, liaise with key stakeholders to obtain missing documentation
  • Support the engagement and performance management of external contractors by checking risk assessments, method statements, accreditations and auditing of work completion to specification

Compliance Officer Requirements

To be successful in the role you will:

  • Have a Business or Administrative Management Qualification.
  • Qualified to at least NEBOSH level and a member of a professional body (i.e. IOSH).
  • Have specific knowledge of legislation, regulation and compliance relating to health, safety and operational risk within a business context.
  • Knowledge of Statutory Compliance across residential and corporate buildings.
  • Background in property management and compliance. Experience across construction and maintenance disciplines in a business and/or educational environment and understand the pressures of safe, fasttrack delivery.
  • Ability to influence others through good communication and presentation skills both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in providing accurate and key information to contribute to business analysis and decision making.
