Reports Into Design Director

Who we are:

At CDP, we are on a mission to solve our planet's biggest environmental challenges: climate change, water scarcity, biodiversity collapse, plastics pollution and deforestation.

We believe you can't manage what you don't measure - so we run the world's largest environmental disclosure system.

For the past two decades, our team has worked tirelessly to create a thriving economy that works for people and planet in the long term - we accomplish this by engaging the global actors who wield the greatest influence in driving environmental change: companies, cities, governments, and the capital markets.

CDP's cascading global impact is powered by our tight-knit team of smart, savvy, curious and committed individuals, who share a common passion for creating a sustainable future.

It is our people who make our work possible.

And we provide our people with a working environment that empowers each individual to reach their full potential:

one that is committed to equity; one that provides equal access for growth and development; and one that supports each individual throughout the full employee life cycle.

Why we're hiring for this role:

For the past year, CDP has been going through a large digital transformation to become a product-based and human-centred company.

We've been working with a consultancy to build a new product which captures and scores complex environmental data from our customers.

We want to bring content design skills into the business to collaborate with our designers and engineers in solving problems and creating the best customer journeys we can.

We've recently brought in a contract content designer to help review the content for our first release of a new platform for collecting environmental data.

You'll take over from them and establish content design as a day-to-day part of how we design our products.

Who you are:

***:

  • Establish the foundations of content design here at CDP, including setting standards and helping other team members understand how and where to get you involved.
  • Prioritise when, where and how to support designers across multiple workstreams.
  • Add copy to Figma and ensure engineers have what they need to implement it.
  • Align with other contentproducing functions (our marketing and questionnaire teams) to create clear, concise, complete and consistent content across the business.
  • Work with our translation agency to ensure customers have the same great experience across the eight languages we operate in.
  • Help the business simplify how we talk about climate change science and our methodology by testing content with real users and supporting teams to adapt their communication based on your findings.
  • Work in crossfunctional teams using Figma, Miro, Notion, Maze, Microsoft Teams, and Azure DevOps

This role is perfect for you if:

  • The thought of setting up content design is exciting to you, and you've got lots of ideas on how to go about it.
  • You're patient. We're a new team in a global organisation of 700+ people so we'll need to bring people along on the design journey together.
  • You love to test with real users to check how your ideas work in practice.
  • You enjoy coaching and teaching others. Part of this role is about upskilling design and engineering to make better choices themselves, as much as getting stuck in yourself.
  • You're passionate about climate change and sustainability. No matter what your current level of understanding, it's an area you'll actively need to keep learning about and connecting with during your time here.

Your manager:

You'll report into our Design Director Kristof. He is well versed in building design teams from scratch, having done so at multiple startups/scale-ups in the past.

Our tools:

We use:
-
Figma for all design work.
-
Miro for our workshops and journey mapping.
-
Notion for our documentation.
-
Typeform for our quantatitive testing
-

-
Microsoft Teams for communication and running research sessions
