ROLE DESCRIPTION
Durham Wildlife Trust Volunteer Support Assistant


Purpose of the post:

  • Welcome all new volunteers to Durham Wildlife Trust.
  • Promote DWT volunteer opportunities, particularly to those from backgrounds currently underrepresented within the volunteer teams.
  • Ensure the DWT volunteer journey is delivered to the highest possible standard.
  • Provide volunteer admin support to the Supporter Development Manager.

Main duties and responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for administering the volunteer recruitment process.
  • Work closely with members of the Conservation Team, Education team and Development team to ensure timely communications with volunteers regarding volunteer opportunities.
  • Research, book and attend volunteer recruitment events at schools and colleges, Universities and out in the community with local partners such as the local authority and at events like agricultural shows and "Fun Days". This will be an opportunity to promote volunteering to a wide audience and speak to the public directly.
  • Manage communications via the new volunteer management system and produce promotional material for social media with DWT's Communications Officer.
  • Monitoring the DWT Volunteer Facebook Group, responding to comments and posting engaging volunteer content including new opportunities.
  • Carry out welcome calls and volunteer feedback calls to assist in improving and monitoring the volunteer journey and then providing feedback to the wider team.
  • Promote Durham Wildlife Trust and volunteering with enthusiasm and in line with the Trust's positive brand profile.
  • Occasionally participate in practical conservation, support the Education team with delivering environmental education sessions and holiday clubs, working in Visitor Centre shops and administration support DWT's office where required.
