Senior Risk Advisor - Inside IR35

Contract Term: 12 Months

Contracting Authority:
DSTL (MOD)


Location:
Hybrid 1 to 2 days per Month in the office Salisbury or Portsmouth


The Risk Team are responsible for promoting good risk management practice across Dstl, and ensuring that the Dstl Executive have accurate, current information in order to make risk-informed decisions.

This is achieved through building and maintaining trusting working relationships with a diverse set of key stakeholders and looking for opportunities to ensure that Dstl's approach to risk management constantly evolves.


As a Senior Risk Advisor your main responsibilities would be to:

  • Bring the Risk Capability up to full complement so that it can deliver Risk Management support to Dstl.
  • Improve the maturity of Risk Management in Dstl, in order to able to fully comply with the requirements of JSP892, including reporting obligations to MOD which continue to increase.
  • Support the CE's wish to put effective Risk Management at the centre of Dstl's business practices, with greater focus on accountability for those with designated risk roles
  • Implement meaningful actions; and assurance that risk management is effective.
  • Deliver a consistently high standard of risk business partnering across Dstl,
  • Promote a shared understanding, and standardised approach to Risk.
  • Support the existing Risk resource with the partnering of key Dstl risk management stakeholders.
  • Implement a controls based approach to Corporate Risks.
  • Support the business with drafting Risk Appetite Statements.

Essential Requirements

  • SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role
  • Experience in managing stakeholder relationships, communicating and influencing others
  • The ability to analyse complex information, and identify themes and trends
  • An aptitude for identifying and following up on opportunities for improvement
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Good ability to think creatively with respect to capturing and presenting information and identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Ability to interpret and assimilate information from across and outside the organisation and identify linkages
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships based on trust, exercising discretion when exposed to sensitive information.
  • Ability to provide constructive challenge to teams and senior leaders within Dstl to support improved outcomes.
  • Ability to land messages with stakeholders and motivate them during challenging periods, adopting an optimistic and pragmatic approach to solving problems.
