Description

The specialist support worker will hold the required level of skills and knowledge to undertake the running of the physical health monitoring arm of the Clozapine and Lithium Clinic.

This will include venepuncture, physical health measurements, specialist side effect monitoring and reporting.

The role will also include the use of specialist equipment, for which external companies provide training and support for.

The use of the equipment is paramount to the service and therefore the post holder will be required to be competent in its use, and to manage any anomalies with this equipment promptly.


The new pathway will see the post holder work alongside a registered nurse associate to manage this cohort of patients requiring support and intervention, with the support and leadership of the senior nurses in the nurse led clinic service.


  • The post holder will support the Clozapine and Lithium Clinic to deliver highquality patient care, upholding patient dignity delivered with kindness and compassion.
  • The post holder will provide the required monitoring including the undertaking of physical health measures, for the essential medications Clozapine and Lithium.
  • The post holder will be responsible for the organisation of the clinic based service.
  • The post holder will be required to work closely with colleagues, and with other services to ensure the essential running of the clinic.
  • The post holder will be responsible for raising any anomalies with appropriately trained qualified practitioners to ensure that any concerns are dealt with and handed over swiftly.
