_We are now looking for a Manager of Academic Services (MAS) to join our busy team_


The MAS is a critical member of the Brunel Pathway College team with a focus on managing the key aspects of the student life cycle with regard to records and reporting compliance, teaching and learning services, quality and standards, regulatory provision,student performance and intervention strategies to assure each student maximises their learning experience and potential.


The role requires an experienced higher education leader who is able to use their initiative and be an active and productive member of a cross functional team, working with the admission, marketing and student services functions of the College.


The MAS will lead the Academic Services team to deliver a first class service experience to our diverse student community, and will work with the College Management Team to contribute towards the College's strategic vision.


Salary:
Up to £38,000 Per annum


Manager of Academic Services (MAS) Duties:

  • Oversee assessment policy and execution
  • Develop and maintain Academic Services operational relationships with the Partner University as appropriate for the management of examinations; timetabling and programme development
  • Lead the timetabling processes for the College
  • Lead the management of examinations processes for the College
  • Manage the HR process for College Academic Services staff including recruitment and induction
  • Manage the student records systems to required standards and accuracy
  • Manage student record systems in tandem with the visa compliance regime as required to College protocols and Tier 4 sponsorship management duties
  • Manage reporting of student status and performance to internal and external stakeholders under Tier 4 sponsorship management duties
  • Manage and participate in the delivery of an effective student retention programme
  • Manage the Students in Jeopardy programme in liaison with the Senior Manager of Student Services
  • Prepare and interpret statistical data and trends relating to the academic performance of students and implement appropriate response mechanisms
  • Manage the effective and efficient academic reporting to the College Reporting Board, Module Panels and Progression Boards
  • Manage the processes and protocols pertaining to the Module Panels and Progression Boards
  • Coordinate and administrate preparation for all quality and standards led audits and inspections by internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage effective and accurate timetable and attendance monitoring processes resultant processes to required standards and reporting mechanisms
  • Ensuring understanding by all participants in the educational process of responsibilities, standards and expected outcomes

Manager of Academic Services (MAS) Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree to honours level in sciences, humanities, education or business
  • Management and leadership experience within a HE environment
  • Strong verbal and written English language communication skills as well as effective interpersonal skills with a variety of cultural and ethnic stakeholder groups
  • Computer literacy skills inclusive of demonstrated competence with the Microsoft Office suite
  • PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Academic management experience in an HE education focused environment
  • Administrative and compliance experience related to teaching quality in HE
  • File management and administrative skills
  • Academic interface with a multicultural clientele
  • Proven ability as a 'team player'
  • Proven ability to organise own workload and to cope with a variety of task demands
  • Creative thinking processes
  • Ability to travel within the UK
  • Proactive work habits
  • Flexible attitude to work including a willingness to work weekends and evenings in support of student and administrative activities
  • Commitment to selfimprovement

Desirable:


  • Postgraduate degree
  • Leadership and management training and/or qualifications
  • Knowledge of bespoke university software such as SITS, Moodle etc.
  • Scheduling and timetabling experience
