The Talent Set are delighted to be working with a lovely animal charity to find their new Special Events Officer.


The organisation offers a competitive salary of £32,500 and a lovely flexible working environment, with a hybrid working pattern and an expectation of being in their London office 2 days a week.

The organisation is also happy to offer this role in a Part-time capacity working 4 days a week if desired.


As Special Events Officer will support the implementation of the annual special events programme by independently delivering a series of exclusive events across various high value supporter audiences within the Philanthropy, Corporate and Trust department.

You will also lead the tracking and evaluation of the impact and effectiveness of each project in line with Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships team objectives and strategy.


Key responsibilities:

  • Manage end to end planning and event day delivery for both virtual and face to face events within the highvalue (£10k£1m) events portfolio.
  • Source and manage external suppliers and contractors as required to deliver events e.g. logistics, venue, entertainment, catering, design and creative and negotiate all costs, contracts and inkind partnerships where appropriate.
  • Lead crossdirectorate event project groups, to agree messaging and timelines and ensure all objectives are met. Work with fundraising account managers to ensure any corporate sponsors or major donors hosting events have their expectations met fully and are consulted on key elements of their events.
  • Steward senior internal stakeholders for events, producing thorough written and verbal event briefings for the CEO and other members of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Draft speeches for CEO and other senior staff
  • Independently manage allocated budgets of £20k or more for each of the events within the owned portfolio, ensuring all events are within budget and that all expenditure is accurately recorded.
  • Support the monitoring, evaluation and review processes for all events delivered within the Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships Team.

Person Specification:

  • Previous experience of leading on medium to large events and logistics with endtoend management (e.g. dealing with venues/hosts, invitations, guest list, messaging, content production, caterers, printers etc.)
  • Strong organisational skills with a methodical approach to working on a number of tasks simultaneously and working to deadlines
  • A strong team player able to remain effective if under pressure
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of people at all levels
  • Good written and research skills with the ability to draft letters, speeches, invites, reports and other collateral copy
  • Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas occasional overnight stays
